Once you get the hang of thinking outside the
traditional, you become very proficient at having breakthroughs in your playing.
We actually get stuck in our own heads when it comes
to our playing regardless of what instrument we play. Being in our heads
is a very lonely and scary place to be as brass players. I don’t recommend
going there alone!
Find a good teacher who can be more of a coach.
A good coach will help you find what works for you and help you have
breakthroughs in your playing.
